Declared Mains Policy
|
Declared Main Policy Each player will have a single declared main character. This will be the character that is usually played in 25-man raids. Hybrid classes must also have a declared role, such as tank, healer, caster/ranged, or melee. This role is also expected to be played in 25-man raids. If a player would like to play an alt or an off-role on a raid, they must receive approval from the raid leader on each raid. If nothing is said to the raid leader, it is assumed the player will play their main character and be specialized for their main role. Playing of alts or off-roles is purely at the discretion of the raid leader. If the raid leader says no, then that is final. Complaints regarding alts or off-roles will not be tolerated. However, the raid leader will do his best to allow people to play alts and to alternate roles without jeopardizing the success of the raid. The closer to the end of a farming cycle the guild gets for a zone, the more alts will be allowed. Alts are expected to provide a small application for Class Advisors to evaluate and comment on their raiding potential. Refer to the Alternative Characters to Raids sticky and the Alt. Applications thread in the Raid Discussion forum. This is not required for Off-Role raiding. Switching main characters Members are allowed to switch main characters. First, a request post must be made in the recruit discussion forum. The raid leaders and officers will evaluate the state of the guild and the alt’s gear, and if both are found to be acceptable, the switch will be authorized and the member will be put on a 1-month evaluation period. During this period, the member will have loot restrictions equal to that of a recruit, and other members will be allowed to comment on performance in the switch request post. Also, if at any time during this period the member decides to switch back to his or her previous character, this will be allowed with no further penalty. After the 1-month period, the member will be given full-member benefits on the new character. The member will also be restricted from switching mains again until after a period of 2 months has passed. There can only be around 5 main switches occurring simultaneously, to prevent guild instability. Switching main roles Members are also allowed to switch their raiding role. The member must first gain approval from his or her class advisor, and then the raid leaders and officers are approached. If it is determined that the role switch is acceptable, the member will be expected to raid under the new role, and gains loot privileges respective of the new role. Role switches will be carefully monitored by the class advisors, raid leaders, and officers to prevent exploitation of the off-role bidding priority level. |
